Heavy gauge wire
Dowl or rod mettle or wood
Drill and bits
Bolt cutters, tin snips or heavy duty wire cutters
(Optional thick gloves)
To make the mail start by drilling in to the end of the rod if it is mettle to may need to hammer or file a small section flat so you can drill the hole. Then in insert the wire in to the hole and attach the drill to the end so you can wind the wire on however you can also do this by hand whether you chose to use a hand drill or just your hand. When turning the rod slowly feed the wire on to the rod at this stage you may choose to use gloves so you do not start to rub blisters. Once you have done this you should have a very long spring shaped tube that you can now cut up to make the links.
To cut it in to links you will need to use you snips of choice to cut straight down the spring you should get lots of little links now you can start the pattern.
Thread 4 links on to 1 by twisting the link open after that close the link spread the links out so that look like this
Make 2 or 3 more and start putting the together like this
but be patience and use thick wire the wire I used was too thin a coursed
problems.
